My name is Zach and I’m registered in Minnesota. I’m voting by mail from Boston, where I’m currently a student. I think voting is important because so many marginalized groups, like the LGBTI+ community, have been targeted recently and throughout history and it’s so important to show that America will not uphold this detestable ideology. Beyond this, I recognize that I’m a cisgender white gay man and that I am among the most privileged in the LGBTI+ community and that while I may not have personally felt the effects of discriminatory policies, they’re still very much felt by others in our community. With my vote, I hope to elect leaders that will enact policy to protect my rights and the rights of my fellow LGBTI+ folks.
