My name is Arielle (she/her) and I am a registered Illinois voter. This fall, I will be voting by mail as an Illinois absentee voter. A couple weeks ago, I mailed in a request for an absentee ballot and am still waiting for my ballot to come in the mail. Voting is important to me because it’s a right to be able to participate. Although I struggle with the notion that I am voting for a politician about whom I am not so thrilled, I still believe that there is power in the ability to vote if it is in the interest of the general public. Ultimately, I think it is okay to be a conflicted voter who is still casting a ballot for some sense of greater good.
