Donald Trump’s religious advisor, Tony Perkins, welcomed the decision to overthrow an American ambassador who condemned an anti-gay law in Zambia. Tony Perkins, who sits on the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, spoke after the recall of the US ambassador to Zambia, Daniel Foote. Foote angered Zambian President Edgar Lungu by saying that he was “personally horrified” by the imprisonment of two homosexuals for a consensual relationship “that did no harm to anyone”.The ambassador was recalled after the Lungu said that his government would no longer work with Foote in any capacity. The Trump administration has publicly stated that it is “appalled” by Zambia’s decision to force Foote out.
