Organisers of a town’s Pride event said it meant “an awful lot” to have been able to share it with the local community. Alsager Pride marked its fourth annual celebration on Saturday, and is among a growing network of Pride events in Cheshire – including those in Congleton and Sandbach. Sarah Dening, chair of Pride in Alsager, said the event at Alsager Cricket Club showcased the best of the town’s spirit. She said: “I’m feeling absolutely ecstatic, it’s been absolutely amazing.” Michael Unett, Alsager’s deputy town mayor, opened the event and said the wider Pride movement had seen “tremendous success” in fighting for LGBT rights and promoting acceptance.
