Central American migrants continue to make their way toward Tijuana, even as the border city south of San Diego struggles to accommodate the more than 2,000 caravaners who have already arrived. Mexican media has reported that more than 1,500 Central American migrants arrived in Mexicali Friday, about three hours by car to the east of Tijuana, and that the migrants are trying to leave by bus to Tijuana Saturday. The latest estimate from government officials puts the number of migrants who already arrived in Tijuana by Friday at 2,397. A small contingent of about 85 migrants, most members of the LGBT community arrived in an upscale Tijuana neighborhood on Nov. 11. They were confronted by residents, who said they opposed the migrants’ presence in the area, according to local news reports.
