Ahead of World AIDS Day this week, some of the Philippines’ hottest online personalities are encouraging the LGBT community to test for HIV. Influencers in the capital, Manila, have launched the ‘Taking It’ challenge. They’ve pledged to test for HIV and nominated three friends to do so too. The Philippines’ HIV crisis is one of the worst in the world, with a 174 percent increase in new infections since 2010, according to UNAIDS. There have been at least 7,579 new HIV cases this year. Importantly, 90 percent of these infections are among men who have sex with men.
