These Cities Hadn’t Celebrated Pride – Until Now

FOR MILLIONS OF PEOPLE around the world, June marks the time of year to be loud and proud. And 48 years after the first Pride Parade in New York City, more cities and towns are joining the masses to raise their voices in support of the LGBT community. On June 28, 1969, riots broke out between members of the LGBT community and police after officers raided the Stonewall Inn, a local gay bar in New York City’s Greenwich Village. A year later, activists hosted the first Pride Parade in Manhattan in honor of those who fought for their human rights.
