The United Kingdom on Wednesday became the latest European country to restrict some form of health care access for transgender youth after indefinitely banning the sale and supply of puberty blockers to minors. The move – which covers Great Britain and Northern Ireland following an agreement with the latter, according to The Associated Press – comes after the publicly funded National Health Service decided earlier this year to temporarily stop prescribing puberty-suppressing treatments to minors with gender dysphoria following an independent review into gender identity services in the U.K. The latest order will be reviewed in 2027, a news release announcing it noted.
