A pro-LGBT priest says he’s not bothered by “oceans of hate and threats” against him for speaking in support of the gay community. Fr James Martin will be given a platform at the Pope’s visit to Croke Park despite almost 10,000 people calling for him to be cut from the rosters. The priest, who has openly said the church needs to embrace LGBT, had received backlash for his views from lay Catholic group ‘Tradition, Family, and Prosperity’ who started the petition saying he “supports transgenderism for children” and “favors homosexual kissing during the mass”. Speaking to The Sunday Independent, the priest revealed he’s had talks canceled because of his views – but he’s not bothered by it. He said: “What kind of Jesuit would I be if I let hatred stop me from loving?”
