The police are looking into an incident in which a 31-year-old man from the central Israeli city of Rehovot was attacked due to his sexual orientation on Friday. Uri Lev, the victim, posted a video on his TikTok account showing him with bruises on his face. He had an encounter with a man who approached him when he was standing outside a pub and asked if he was gay. When he replied that he is, the man attacked him. This is the second case of anti-LGBTQ violence occurring in the city in the last two months. “Someone approached me and asked me boldly if I was gay. “I’m not going to hide it – that’s who I am,” Lev remarked in the video. “And then I’m on the ground.” That’s when I remember it. I’m on the floor, in my city, in my safe place.”
