London Muslims are getting ready to celebrate their very own LGBTQ Pride celebration next spring, after raising over 10,000 pounds (around $12,900) in a fund-raising campaign. The event is being organized by Imaan, a network of LGBTQ Muslims across the U.K. Founded in November, 1999, Imaan is a community that empowers “thousands of others like ourselves to reconcile sexuality, gender identity with the Islamic faith through social support meetings, conferences, retreats, Pride and religious celebrations and spiritual practice,” a description on the organization’s fund-raising page reads.
