LGBT Office is Attacked in Kharkiv, Ukraine

Grenades and empty pepper spray were seized from the scene. The LGBT office was attacked in the Podilskiy valley in Kharkiv, as the press office of the National Police reports. According to the preliminary information, unknown men in gasmasks broke into the office, threw a smoke grenade, used pepper spray and damaged the organization property. Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 of Art. 296 (“Hooliganism”) Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides deprivation of liberty for up to four years. Reportedly, ambassadors of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Cyprus, Dania, Canada, European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Britain and the US called Ukraine for a tolerance for the LGBT community.
