From South Africa to India, Costa Rica to Trinidad and Tobago, here is some of the progress made in terms of LGBTIAQ rights across the world in 2018. 70 years ago today the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted. The milestone document proclaimed the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being – regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth or status. It is the most translated document in the world, available in more than 500 languages. According to Amnesty International, human rights continue to deteriorate around the world. For the LGBTIAQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Intersexed, Asexual and Queer) community, these human rights violations continue to plague different countries.
