T-shirts usually come in sizes like M and XL. However, Queermandu’s t-shirts come in sizes Twink and Bear. Queermandu, a brand new LGBTQ+ tour company in Kathmandu, isn’t shy about wearing its queerness on its sleeve. The names of its t-shirt sizes play with body types popular on gay dating apps. The names of their walking tours are equally tongue-in-cheek. Kathmandu from Queer Eye gives a “lowdown on Kathmandu’s hush-hush queer past.” A momo-making workshop is called Homo Momo and the dumplings come in the colours of the Pride flag (all natural colours of course). “The Devil Wears Chappals” is a shopping spree in Kathmandu while the “Discreet” Foodie Extravaganza explores hidden culinary treasures and street food. “Discreet in gay language is someone who’s not out,” says Prajeet Budhatoki, one of the founders of Queermandu. “And these are hidden food outlets. We are playing with the word.”
