Prime Minister Robert Abela, together with Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation Roderick Galdes have inaugurated Dar il-Qawsalla, a residence dedicated to members of the LGBTIQ+ community facing socio-economic challenges and homelessness. This initiative provides a safe space for LGBTIQ+ individuals while alleviating pressure on the Housing Authority, a government statement said. Managed by the Malta LGBTIQ Rights Movement (MGRM), the residence will accommodate individuals for up to two years. During this time, residents will receive support to transition to independent housing or be referred to other relevant services. During the inauguration, Abela emphasized government’s commitment to addressing Malta’s evolving social realities.
