Turkey’s LGBT organizations are being supported by foreign funding, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Tuesday, adding that the strong “Turkish family structure’’ was standing tall despite attempts to alter it. The Turkish official made the remarks during an event with muhtars, elected village heads, in capital Ankara, Duvar news site reported. “Which mother and father is applying to you for the proliferation of the LGBT in this country?” Soylu, a strong advocate against the movement, asked the village heads. “So then where is this heightened interest coming from? Europe and the United States.” The Interior minister went on to say that “organisations, charitable foundations and embassies abroad’’ were propping up the LGBT movement in Turkey.
