Explainer: The facts about Russia’s expanded ‘gay propaganda’ law

Russia’s so-called ‘gay propaganda’ law has banned the promotion of “non-traditional sexual values” to under-18s since 2013. Now, the State Duma, the lower house of Russia’s parliament, has introduced amendments that would expand the scope of the law by banning the “denial of family values” and the “promotion of non-traditional sexual orientations” to all ages. The Duma is expected to decide on the draft law this month.
