Colombian justice ordered to include “non-binary” gender on identity documents in Colombia, documents so far only mentioning the categories “man” and “woman”, according to a judgment delivered Tuesday by the Constitutional Court. In its decision, making case law on a particular case, the Constitutional Court ordered “to include the non-binary category for the category of sex in the system of identification of citizens”. This new category must be an option available to Colombian citizens within six months. The Court ruled on the claim of a 40-year-old who, born male, began a process of “gender transition” at the age of 20.
