The population of a remote island off the coast of Cork will double next week during a Gaeltacht festival for LGBT adults. Cape Clear, Ireland’s southernmost inhabited island, which has a population of only 110 people, will welcome more than 100 visitors who have each paid €300 for a ticket to the sold-out event, leaving a large number on a waiting list to attend. The ticket includes a bed in a shared dormitory, as well as access to all activities planned for the week. The events include a cabaret night, Irish classes every morning, a boat trip to a lighthouse, candlemaking, pottery, a DJ set and locally made cocktails, poetry readings, yoga sessions and a performance of an Irish language LGBT play called Grindr, Saghdar agus Cher.
