Akkai Padmashali, a transgender activist, received a passport for her son Avin without listing his father’s name. In a landmark move, the Bengaluru Regional Passport Office has issued a passport to five-year-old Avin Akkai Padmashali, the son of transgender human rights activist Akkai Padmashali, without listing the father’s name, Deccan Herald reported. This marks a historic moment in India, where a transgender woman’s name alone is mentioned as the parent on a child’s passport.
